Washington D.C. Experience

In the middle of changing airports with about 4 hours in between flights, we took an Uber trip through Washington D.C. in hopes of seeing some of the memorials on our way home. I LOVED this part of the trip and it made the journey home so much more enjoyable!

Why do this?

My family is a very warm weather family. We will probably never travel to D.C. to only see the monuments so it was perfect for us to do it on the way. Unlike most students, I never got a trip to D.C. with my school so I had never seen it before. The monuments are also quite literally on the way from Dulles Airport to Regan airport so it was going to fit in perfectly.

Flight Delay

Our flight got delayed from Doha to Dulles Airport which made our monument schedule tight. We almost weren’t going to be able to do it but we decided to just take the risk and go quickly.  Our flight ended up being canceled but you can read more about that on the post linked below: 

Traveling home from Maldives

Uber

We took an Uber around to the monuments and to the airport. We paid for two hours and booked last minute. To save time, do not book last minute especially if you are not good with technology. 

The Monuments 

From the road you can see most of the monuments. We saw the Washington Monument as well as the building for the Lincoln memorial. There are several other monuments that you can see that I have pictured as well as the capital, the Supreme Court (not pictured) and the White House. Also, we did not have time to do this but that’s cool about the White House is that you can take a path and walk right up next to the front lawn!

What an amazing experience to see the history of my country!
