4/4/2018 0 Comments Pearl Sands of MaldivesThis was a very nice place for our limited time stay. I only recommend a couple days here at the most due to the fact that there are limited food options and no alcohol (for those of you who enjoy that). The beach was very beautiful, but just beyond the jeti, the current was very strong and you will get swept away in a matter of seconds. Many pipefish (they are in the seahorse family) and eels can be found in the jeti rocks, while the occasional blacktip shark will swim over close by the beach. They are smallish. Three feet at the most. I, of course, ran after them chasing them hoping I could get a better look and tried to snorkel with them. if the current would have not been so strong, the house reef would have been super nice to snorkel or kayak (If they had kayaks). Getting hereAccessible by boat, we hopped aboard our private transfer for the airport marina to this island. No more than half and hour by boat and you have arrived. We just contacted the resort to arrange for this transfer but it does cost extra. The Rooms, Bathrooms, and The FoodThe rooms were very quaint and nice. The door was under lock and key which my mom thought was difficult to use, but I had no problems with it. The crabs were a bit freaky though. They scratched on the window at night and waited by your door to scare you and sneak into your room. They were actually quite funny and posed no real danger. Room tour video below!! The bathrooms were excellent with two showers, an area to hang wet stuff, two vanities, one toilet, and an open roof in some areas. I'll insert an image or two. The food, however, was limited, but acceptable for our only two day stay. You had only two options from the menu, neither of which sounded appetizing, but this was a foreign country and not all the food was terrible. TIP: Leaving the resort required you to cover up since there is an Islamic village on the island. The DivingTheir dive shop is just starting out and we did a little bit of diving there with them. My favorite dive site done with them is called Fish Tank, or Tuna Factory. It is just outside of an island that has a tuna factory on it where all their carcasses are thrown into the water to be feasted upon by rays, eels, fish, and the occasional guitar or tiger shark. I dove this site twice and saw neither. The past weeks before they had been seeing the Tiger Shark. I was a bit disappointed I didn't get to see it but nonetheless, the dive site is still amazing. Diving with this resort was really nice. It was small, not a lot of people. They knew of great dive sites and showed us some beautiful animals. If you come to the Maldives to see the whale shark and the manta rays, this place probably isn't for you. If I had come here and only stayed at this place I would have left disappointed with the diving considering what the Maldives is known for. Like I said, great for a couple of days and checkout dives before getting onto the liveaboard. The BeachBeautiful beach!! Strong currents, yes, but gorgeous. Hermit crabs were everywhere as well as rays and sharks. I'll inset some pictures and videos below! Heres a shark!!
