7/28/2018 8 Comments NLand Surf ParkWelcome to Austin!Nland surf park is located in the city of Austin, Texas. This is a great place to learn how to surf, but it not the best place for experienced surfers. The food was excellent and the people were nice, however everything was a tad pricy. For those of you who do not know what a surf park is, a surf park is basically a large manmade lake with a big machine that makes a wave. It is a great place to go to and have fun that is close by. My dad texted me a week before we went asking if I wanted to go. Saying that this vacation was spontaneous would be the understatement of the year! How I packed...For this trip, I lived out of a black North Face backpack. It was something I was able to check off my bucket list and it was great not having to pick up my luggage from baggage claim once I landed! I highly recomend to do a weekend trip like this and only carry on a backpack. Some things I included in my bag were: -headphones for the ride -summer reading school book (for time management of course) -toothbrush and toothpaste along with hairbrush -deodarant -two pair of shorts -two shirts -wore my flip flops on the plane and wore them the whole time so brought no shoes in my bag -three undergarments -three swimsuits -one rashguard -socks -pillow -gopro My dad brought his pillow too and it made his bag buldging full. Mine was still natural sized and everything fit perfectly! Hey! We Made It!Aloha, Austin. Once my dad and I landed, we waited on our friends to get in. Their flight got delayed and ours did not so we waited for around a half hour. The airport is absolutely freezing so I took a walk outside in the 100 degree heat. If you should know one thing about me its that I am in love with the beach and the ocean. If you should know another thing about me, its that I think hotter=better. I was basking in the heat outside until, finally, they landed. We picked up our rental car. The company we used had a super cool system for emerald members. These are fairly cheap membership prices for a great service plan! You go up to your designed floor and pick any car you want and drive it out of there. We ended up with a brown Jeep Grand Cherokee. Super fantastic choice! Once we got in our car, off my dad, his friend Matt, his girlfriend Aleska, my friend Simon, and I went in our Jeep. We went to the Fairmont Hotel in downtown Austin. This was a lovely lovely place with a glass outside and fancy inside. My dad and I upgraded our room to a suite to be just a couple doors down from our friends. We had a great view of the city! Hitting the City![]() Bored, we decided to explore. Simon and my dad's friend, Matt, told us about these scooters that are electric and they are called a Lime. There is also a Bird, but you have to have a drivers license for that. Lime you do not and you just scan it on the app for both to activate it and you pay based on the time. These were super fun and we limed all around town to check things out until, we got hungry. We found a super cute BBQ place. It was called Ironworks. The whole environment and the food was so authentic and different than anything in Georgia. It is funny how you can travel only a few states over and have things be so different. One thing about the Limes: They are hard to find as the night goes on because they get picked up by people to get charged. Same thing with the birds. Anyway, the food was super delicious and my favorite parts were the Mac N Cheese and the pulled pork. The Surf ParkThe night came and gone in what seemed like a matter of seconds and soon enough we were up and out to the NLand Surf Park. How it works there is they have the reef and the the outer wave. The reef is the big break and they only allow 5 people on it. 20 people are allowed on the outer wave because everyone can take the wave at once. On the reef, one person has priority and only they are on the wave at once, unless they miss it, then anyone on the reef can grab it. The trick is to stay up close to the fence. What did we do?My dad, myself, Matt, and Simon all hit the reef wave. My dad and I got lessons for the reef wave to kinda learn how it works. However, on our first hour we were trying to figure out what board we wanted. This wave is not meant for a longboard or any of their rental boards unless you are highly experienced or bring your own board. DO NOT spend the money on a nice rental board for this wave. Their FREE foam boards work the best for this wave for my father and I. I highly recommend y'all try those at first too. How it worksFor all waves you pay by the hour. The reef costs $90 per person per hour. There is an east and west side of the fence. I personally prefer the east side, and yes, I have surfed on both sides. The machine runs from north to south producing a wave that goes one way, and then from south to north producing another wave. It goes every two minutes which means you pay for an hour but get half hour of waves. The restaurant is a little bit of a walk but so worth it! The food is fantastic. I recommend the hamburger with avocado on it. It has been a few months since I last ate there and I am still craving it! There are a few forms you need to sign. Since I went online to look around at the place I found out that you can sign them online, which I did, and it saved me a whole lot of time! A Rash guard is highly recommended! And do not wear a white swimsuit, it will get stained brown. Here are some pics! The first picture shows the parking area and where you walk into the gate. The parking area is dirt, but there is nothing wrong with that. There are some great surfboards at the front gate to take a picture with. The last picture was from up by the restaurant. There is a large walkabe pier that the machine runs underneath. Here is a video of how the wave at the park worked!Back to the Fairmont!![]() After a long way on the water, it felt great to walk back into Texas shaped chocolates in your room! One was dark chocolate and one was milk chocolate. These were delicious treats! Yea, so I may have eaten dessert before dinner, but what came next was amazing! We ate at the resturant at the Fairmont. Such delicious food!
Something a bit more sad...After all of this positive feedback on the city of Austin, its time to get a bit more real. While liming around the city, I noticed a significant amount of homeless people. I even tried to help one trying to cross the road, who was confined to a wheelchair. I got off my scooter because I knew the light was going to change soon, and went to go push him across the street when I was suddently and rudely shut down by negative and hateful comments from him demanding me to stop. These people are not only disabled but extremely rude to the average civilian trying to lend a hand. I was quite astonished if I do say so. To be quite honest, my feelings were very hurt by this whole situation but theres a picture below of some of their situation. Some areas of the city looked better, some looked worse. Almost time to say GoodbyeWelp, it is almost time to leave a great city behind. For our last night, we stayed in, wore our bathrobes, and had a room service/robe/movie party. We got the hottest chicken wings you have ever tasted and some entres. I will say the portions were small for the price but everything all in all, was really fun! We stayed and watched amovie on the couch before we flew out the next day. Overall review:Overall, this was a super fun weekend trip to do with bunch of friends. There is an age restriction on the surf park and Austin is not very family/small kid friendly, so I do not recommend it for families. It is a great place to go with friends and to stay for no longer than just a weekend. If we were to go for a week, we would go to a place called BSR. It has a huge water course, wake park (a safe one), surf park, water slides, and so much more. You will not get bored there! I recommend you to book way in advance since it fills up fast. We tried to get in, but it was too full. Overall lots of fun!

Surfing is not for everyone. Well, when I was a kid, I used to do a lot of surfing. I was not that great at it at first, but after a lot of practice, I was able to improve by a lot. Today, I am able to do almost anything that is related to surfing. I can even do and perform stunts that you have never imagined. Surfing is like breathing to me, but that is because I love it more that anything.

For men, a well-worn leather jacket exudes an air of rugged masculinity and timeless coolness, while women can embrace their inner bad girl with a sleek moto-inspired coat. Leather outerwear is a universal signifier of edgy style and effortless confidence.
