9/28/2022 1 Comment Hurricane Ian in MiamiMy first hurricane in Miami! Except it didn’t even hit Miami… We got lots of a rain, a couple tornado warnings, and some wind here and there. Puddles are everywhere. That’s it. Hurricane EssentialsI went to the grocery store and bought the following items in case this got worse than expected: (I live in a single dorm so it’s just me to feed) - 1 case bottled water - cheezits - milk - oatmeal - yogurt Aside from food, my shark slides are the hurricane essential shoes. They are thick so you can step in puddles without getting wet and if the puddle is deeper than that, they’re just rubber shoes so they dry easily. And they’re cute! I’ve linked them under “beach” on my amazon storefront! Hurricane prep workIn case we lost power, I filled my arctic cooler (linked below) with ice so I could keep my milk and yogurt cold. I also turned my air all the way down in case we lost AC. I also did all my laundry a few days before so that I could avoid needing to do it now and avoid everyone scrambling to do it the day before the storm. School ClosingsWe got hit the hardest on Tuesday when classes were still in session and everything was open. Quickly, decisions were made for classes to go virtual after 2 pm and for everything else to be closing at 5 pm. Once everyone found out that the gym closed at 5, it was PACKED from 2-5. Absolutely crazy.
Miami has remained closed today (Wednesday) all day. There is just some wind but it is not raining.
