8/18/2019 0 Comments Renting a Jeep in Grand Cayman: The Ultimate Guide to Transportation and Travel TipsWe rented a red jeep!! SO MUCH FUN... On a day of boredom we got a jeep and went to drive around the entire island, exploring areas never seen before, at least by my family. Our two door soft top jeep was bright red and super gorgeous! I highly recommend doing this once you have checked items on your Cayman Bucket List (like the typical attractions such as stingray city --> see stingray city post). This is a greay way to see some sights and get the wind in your hair! We hit some unexpected rain, but no worries, top goes right up until the tropical shower passes! First Stop: The Blow HolesWhile I stayed up from where this picture was taken, the view was brethtaking. People are allowed to walk down towards the rocks and if that is for you, then please go for it. I stayed up here because I really wanted the great photo op and we were only there for 5 minutes. The Blow Holes are areas where the waves roll in and then it spits mists of water through holes in the rocks along the shoreline. Second Stop: Sunken ShipWith no image of this area, it is kind of hard to give you a visual. However, this was a little exaggerated. The outside parts were nice and there was a little path to walk down to see a sign and the ship way off in the distance. I recommend stopping to see the shipwreck, but I do not recommend staying very long because you honestly just run out of things to do. Third Stop: Rum Point Cute and beautiful area! We went here twice. By the time we got here in the car (driving all the way around the East side of the island), we were starving and were ready to have delicious food. I hit the gift shop one more time before leaving and went wild! See the post about rum point to find all the fantastic details about this place! Rum point also uses PAPER straws not plastic which I thought was super great. They also have a save our sharks sign put up. It's these things from small places like this that will save our planet from its racing extinction. Fourth Stop: Random Place?!Uh yea, so we went off the grid just a tiny bit. We ended up in the middle of nowhere on a dirt/sand road surrounded my Mangrove trees and many other roads. We were 100% stuck in a maze! Somehow we managed to find our way out. It was also my fault that we even got back there because I wanted to look for baby sharks in the mangrove trees. Sadly, I saw none but I did see some fish. I really wanted to go exploring butttt my dad said that was not a god idea. It was really exciting and I felt so much like a 16th centry explorer but in a car. We ended up at this place that had a beach and we hung out for a couple minutes. Some people rode by on HORSES and that was a gorgeous photo op. Fifth Stop: Dinner! We stopped to grab some dinner at a bar area type place. There is a bar and then just past it are tables right on the water. They serve fantastic food and are very casual. Unfortunately, the name of this place is difficult to remember but they are right next to a restaurant called the Cracked Conch. The name of this place might even be the same but I think they are different. The Cracked Conch was much more fancy and upscale so we just ate at this "beach bar." I would definitely go back to this place. Their menu was amazing and they views when the sun set was gorgeous. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Just route to the Cracked Conch and you will come across this place no problem! Sixth Stop: HomeNope, we did not leave the Island. We returned to our home away from home which was the Margaritavile Resort located on 7 Mile Beach. All in all, the Jeep was a super fun way to spend the day doing something different. After a week of beach and salt and fish (which believe me I can never get enough of that) it was kind of nice to step out of the cookie cutter things to do and go for something different!
